SLAVERY/HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Posted in Uncategorized

I wanted to remind you of the verses we looked at on Sunday.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25

My prayer is that Sunday’s service “stirred” you to do more than nod your head. I often hear messages and get distracted before applying them. In case you have similar struggles, I thought I’d give you a reminder to “do” something. Hopefully you’ve been pursuing “love and good deeds.” I hope you’ve been gathering with others in your community in order to stir them up. We all need reminders and enCOURAGEment.

I’m listing a few websites below. These are some different Christian organizations that have done good work in the area of slavery/human trafficking. There may be ways that you or your community would want to get involved. Cornerstone has partnered financially with some of these groups, so know that some of the money you’ve given to Cornerstone has gone toward their ministries. Be encouraged.

I recognize that the Lord puts different burdens on each of our hearts. I don’t expect everyone to be as passionate about freeing children as I am. I want each person to pursue wholeheartedly whatever it is that the Lord has laid on your heart. You were created with a purpose, and filled with His Spirit. I realize these are tough times for many, but God is calling us to do more than survive. Be courageous.

“Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.” Hebrews 10:37-39

In faith,
Francis

I just wanted to say I am so blessed by this message. It amazing how the Lord always knows what I need to hear. I live in Northern California and I do listen to the podcast and I feel I am the only one who gets what is being said in this sermon. I do feel like I am looked at as crazy with people just saying to me, “hey just stop freaking out about this thing…its just a phase you’ll get over it…you have three kids, just raise them the right way and thats enough.” How I wish I could just go to cornerstone and have someone come along side me and say, “You’re not crazy.” But I heard the Lord tell me while I was listening to that message. “My spirit is enough, I have called you and thats all you need, I am strong enough for this project.” God has put an obsession in my heart for him and reaching the people of my neighborhood and this message just confirmed to me that I am on the right track. Thanks again and pray for me that I will go out in faith and boldness. Love from Ukiah, CA.

I just listened to podcast this morn running around (pushed 9 miles to pray for this city). I am on the site to share the message link with another friend. Need some accountability here. I shared with my husband, this is what we are missing in the local church. Examples of courage. We hear great messages which don’t challenge us to live differently. Shake hands and go out to lunch. We have lived in Africa for 6 years prior to our return to North CA last June. Praying, wondering, working, why are we here, now? We trust and have faith but are pretty alone in the practice. Have adopted, gone to Africa, given up careers, now what? We are the missionaries everyone talks about but no one talks to. With 4 almost teens witnessing and struggling too. Thanks for enCOURAGING us! Being and example, Cornerstone Simi (we have listened for years). Our little neighborhood is blessed because of your example challenging us. They are not saved yet but God…
