WE MUST PRAY
Posted in CommunityWhat a great privilege we have to pray. Prayer allows us to examine our heart, and yield ourselves to God unreservedly. We must pray in times of adversity, unless we become faithless and unbelieving.
We are to pray in times of prosperity, unless we become boastful and proud. We are to pray in times of danger, unless we become fearful and doubting. We need to pray in times of security, unless we become self-sufficient. No matter when or why we are led to pray; pray, believing, with this promise of our Savior in mind, “What things you desire, when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you shall have them” (Mark 11:24). And the exhortation from James 5:16 “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

I’m being completely honest when I say that I’ve always had a big problem with prayer. I cannot tell when it’s God answering, or just circumstance. Also, my mother prayed for 26 years for God to heal my brother’s depression. She prayed, believing that God could heal him if He wished to, as Mark 11 states. He ended up committing suicide. 26 years of wasted prayer time?
(BTW, who decided that it would be a good idea to have light gray text on a white background for the blog site? Can’t read it.)
